About Us

Rural Welfare Institute

RWI creates opportunities for a better future, ensuring dignity and self-reliance for the underprivileged.

Rural Welfare Institute (Gramya Kalyan), locally known as RWI, was established on 12th May 1984 in the village of Hansapara, Nimpara Block, Puri District, Odisha. Starting with just 30 dedicated members from various villages, RWI has grown into a well-recognized organization working across multiple districts in Odisha.
We are committed to socio-economic empowerment, focusing on social and financial inclusion, institutional promotion, education, governance, women and child development, disaster management, sanitation, environmental development, healthcare, insurance, livelihood generation, skill training, awareness programs, and handicraft promotion

Library Activity for School Children

Empowering Youth Through Self-Defense Competition

To promote confidence, safety, and empowerment, RWI organized a Self-Defense Competition Program for students. The event aimed to equip participants with essential self-defense techniques and boost their physical and mental strength.
Through interactive sessions, practical demonstrations, and competitive challenges, participants showcased their skills and learned effective strategies to protect themselves in difficult situations. This initiative encourages self-reliance and awareness, ensuring a safer and more empowered future for our youth.

State-Level Coordination Meeting

Organized a State-Level Coordination Meeting under the Letter Crossing Project, supported by Mandelzweig, Germany. This meeting brought together key stakeholders to discuss progress, challenges, and strategies for enhancing the project's impact. The event focused on strengthening collaboration, improving communication, and ensuring effective implementation of initiatives aimed at community development. Through meaningful discussions and shared insights, the meeting reinforced the commitment to creating sustainable change and fostering global partnerships for a better future.

Empowering Women Through Knowledge

RWI has established a Library for Women to promote education, awareness, and self-development among women in the community. This initiative provides access to books, resources, and learning materials on various topics, including women’s rights, entrepreneurship, health, and skill development.
The library serves as a safe and inclusive space where women can read, learn, and grow, fostering empowerment through knowledge. By encouraging lifelong learning, RWI aims to support women in building a brighter, more independent future.

Migration Survey

Conducted a Migration Survey to analyze the causes, impact, and trends of migration in Odisha. The survey focused on livelihood challenges, employment opportunities, social impact, and policy gaps affecting migrants and their families.
By gathering crucial data and personal experiences, this initiative aims to develop better support systems, skill development programs, and advocacy efforts for safe and sustainable migration. The findings will help shape future interventions to improve the lives of migrant workers and their communities.
